Differential Diagnosis: ADHD, Autism, Mood Disorders and Borderline Personality Disorder [On Demand]
This advanced course will provide therapists, psychologists and counselors with the nuanced insights and knowledge they need to more accurately distinguish between ADHD, Autism, Mood Disorders, and Borderline Personality Disorders in their clinical practice setting. Designed to be a deep dive into detailed diagnostic specificity, this course will empower Master’s level clinicians and above to be more confident and competent in their differential diagnostic practices.
About the course
The course begins with an advanced overview of the diagnostic criteria for these four disorders. Specific diagnostic criteria from each disorder are highlighted and expanded upon in a way that provides significant clarity to the meanings and definitions of these criteria. With a deeper understanding of each disorder, the course then moves into the differential process. Next, this course will provide clear guidance on distinguishing between symptom presentations by clarifying common areas of misunderstanding in the DSM 5 criteria. Symptoms such as impulsivity, self harm/suicidal ideations, mood fluctuations and more are clearly defined and their parameters within each disorder clearly outlined so diagnosticians have what they need to clarify whether or not a diagnostic criteria is met. This course also reviews areas of differential diagnostic challenges. These include areas such as a client’s negative life outcomes, interpersonal relationship, and more. These challenge areas are topics which can easily trip up or muddle the diagnostic process if not considered carefully. Designed to empower clinicians with the knowledge they need to differentiate and discern between client symptom presentations, this course will significantly enhance diagnostic ability and accuracy for those seeking to add assessments to their clinical practice.
