  • Suicidal thoughts are coping skills. 
    There are three guiding theories of suicide and it’s intervention including the Interpersonal Theory of Suicide, the ASSIST model and the RELATE model. 
    Understanding different types of suicidal ideation is key to intervention.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:
  • Compare guiding theories on suicide.
  • Analyze different assessment tools for the screening of suicidality in clients. Discuss multiple options of sensory support through kink for their autistic clients.
  • Develop an ethical, non-carceral safety plan which honors client autonomy and supports safety.

Sabrina Longley, LCSW

Sabrina Longley (she/her) is a queer, fat, Black, multiply neurodivergent Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Born and mostly raised on Mánu: Yį Įsuwą (Catawba), Lumbee Skaruhreh/Tuscarora, Cheraw, Occaneechi, and Shakori lands (colonially known as the Triangle Area of North Carolina), Sabrina obtained her bachelor's in Psychology from North Carolina Central University and her masters in Social Work from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Grace Parsley, LCMHC, NCC

Grace is a queer, trans, AuDHD Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who recently transplanted to Asheville, NC.They obtained their bachelor's in Psychology from Colorado Christian University and their masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Grace is passionate about working with neurodivergent, queer/trans, and disabled clients across the lifespan.
